The Marketing Mix - Place - Business Studies

Magnificent Meringues - 3rd assessment blog post

I have come to my third blog post out of the four, this time this blog post is considering the place/area of our product. I had created a DLO using 'canva' I definitely recommend this site because it's good for displaying work.
In our presentation, we needed to consider:
  • Where will I be producing your product? (would I need a specific spot?)
  • Where would be a good/better location for our product? (e.g inside, outside, etc.)
  • Pedestrian and traffic flow ( does my business rely on people passing by, or do we rely on how unique it is to be able to stand out.)
  • Competition - who else will be selling similar products to me? (How do we stand out)
Here is the presentation:

Once again I am satisfied with my presentation, and how much information I had included. I had made the theme to match the vibe of a meringue. With soft colours, more of a pastel palette, I also added images to make it look more interesting.

If there is anything you would like me to improve on, please comment, I would love to hear the feedback. Thank you!

Sustainability research - Fish waste - Hurumanu

In our maths and sustainability hurumanu, we have been doing work based around sustainability. I haven't been here for a week so I haven't been able to post any blogs about this topic. Luckily my friends were here to fill me in, as far as I know, this is my first blogpost in this hurumanu. My friends had chosen a particular topic that is based around sustainability, we had chosen fish waste. If you have no idea what fish waste is, it's literally where fish has been wasted but the numbers are huge. You probably wouldn't have imagined fish being part of the reason of polluted oceans. I think this is a pretty cool topic because it's not something that we would think about on a daily basis.

My group and had made a presentation that informed you about what fish waste is, the statistics about it, and we had also detailed our information.

Here is our presentation:

The Marketing Mix - Price - Business Studies

Magnificent Meringues - 2nd assessment blog post

How did you work out what price you were going to sell your product at? -

Our decision was based on the size and quantity of the product, we wanted to make sure the price was fair for the customers but also fair for us. We needed to decide on a price where it could make up our profit. We didn't want our product to be too cheap because maybe there wouldn't be much luck in making up our profit. Judging by the size and quantity I think we made a price that is fair for both sides.

How will you ensure that your product is worth the price you are asking people to pay? (quality control) -

We will be ensuring this by putting effort into the style, but not only the style we want to also consider the smell and taste. When people are buying things they think about experience or appearance and size.  Our size is small but that is because we only want the size to be something you snack on. We are also adding whip cream this gives us more of a chance to get customers. Since most people like whip cream out of experience or popularity, we are also adding fruit to add color to make it look refreshing. Thinking about the price when we had tripled the ingredients of two eggs, 3/4 cup of vanilla essence, and 1 1/2 cups of caster sugar. All that had equaled to 30+ meringues. Selling each for 1$ is reasonable for both sides. We can create a profit and the customers would buy it considering the obvious details.

What price is the other (B&E group/real-world business) charging for the same good? -

Local cafes in France usually sell their meringues for 2.90 Euros each, which is equivalent to $5.00 here in NZ. If you went to France and looked at those you would've found that cheap considering the style and quality referring to France's reputation with baking. Her in NZ we are not famous for baking so if we had sold ours for $5 that would be unreasonable. Because thinking about our size and what people think of it. Our style is simple yet elegant if you think about it meringues are famous here in NZ but some people think of meringue as a fancy dessert. Selling them at a dollar each will interest the customers, or surprise some of them, some people think meringue is hard to make, which will make them think we put a lot of effort into it.

What else will you consider when it comes to the price of your product? -

If I were buying the product I would most likely be carried by the smell, size, and style. I think that's all I would think about when I'm buying something. But a thing that I will always think about is the price. If I brought candy I normally buy a lollipop because they are 50c and seem cheap. If you compare them to our sweet dessert, in my opinion, I think it's a bonus a meringue with fruits and whip cream seems like a lot for just a dollar.

The price of your product is one of the most important things you need to talk about, thinking about how many people will buy it. Price is one of the keys to open the door to a successful business.

The Marketing Mix - Product - Meringue Components - Business Studies

In our business studies session, this is our first out of the four assessments. All of the assessments are about the product/service we providing or selling on our Market Day. To sum it up we need to create four blogposts about our product. This brings out or highlights the components, selling point, target market, and the advertisement of our product.

This presentation I have created presents what the features of our products are; what the purpose is and how they are used. The quality of our product, the size, volume and shape, the packing (where we are going to place our product), and the ingredients we are going to buy.

I think my presentation turned out exceptionally decent, I am happy with the theme of colours and how I displayed the wording. In my opinion, I really like how it has turned out, it contains a lot of information about my product. There are even some hidden tips that I had added to give advice to the viewers.

Mini apple sauce muffins - Home Economics.

Mini apple sauce muffins:

I wasn't here on this day but I can still base my blog post on how this dish was created, regarding the internet.

The apparent ingredients for this dish are.

  • butter
  • sugar
  • egg
  • milk
  • apple sauce
  • whole-wheat flour
  • baking powder
  • cinnamon
  • chocolate chips
Before starting, pre-heat your oven to 180 and lightly grease the muffin pan and set aside (mini muffin sized pan, but regular muffin pan is okay too.)

Separate the wet ingredients from the dry ingredients.

Soften your butter in the microwave, make sure to not heat too long because it can result in a liquidy texture but that's okay too. Starting with your wet ingredients, add your egg, milk, and apple sauce in a partially large bowl. Mix it all together till well combined.

Next with preparing your dry ingredients. Add all dry ingredients into another large bowl which should be containing cinnamon, baking powder, sugar, whole wheat flour. Mix till everything has combined thoroughly.

Fold your wet and dry ingredients together, till it has become dice and smooth with no lumps, I think it's best to gradually add the wet ingredients.

------

Start to place the batter into the muffin pan, this is optional but you can add more flavour, by adding chocolate. The way you would do this is by adding some batter half-way and add a chocolate chip and then pour the other half over it.

After you have finished place them into the oven for 10 - 15 minutes, once the timer has finished.

You can enjoy!

This photo is also a link to an online recipe.

I can't really evaluate the food based on taste because I didn't taste it, but by basing it on the looks. They looked pretty delicious, but based on my friend's rating apparently, it didn't taste good because it was undercooked. Her team had also not mixed it properly so she could still taste some of the ingredients specifically.

Film Study - Identifying camera shots - Photo shots and angles

As one of my first tasks for my film study class, we needed to create a presentation. Where it could show the definition and examples of different types of photo shots and angles. This is so we can know before-hand, to whichever shots or angles are being shown in a movie that we will be studying. I created my presentation using 'Canva' and made a short film.

I hope you can learn from my presentation, and give me feedback regarding things I need to improve on, or the things that you enjoyed.

Mac & Cheese - Home Economics

For last week's Home Economics session we had made 'Mac & Cheese' a classic meal that is normally eaten. Even probably on a daily basis, but we didn't realize that there would be a bit of a complex skill.

Ingredients:
  • Pasta
  • Cheese
  • Corn Flour
  • Tomato
  • Ham
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Milk
  • Onion
  • Water
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Butter
Method:

Ready your ingredients - Slice the ham, dice the tomatoes, grate the cheese, and measure the rest of your ingredients. Start to boil your water in a pot and heat your pan. Add the macaroni into the boiling water, and add a pinch of salt. Start to saute the butter and onion. After the two had turned brown, add a bit of cornstarch and gradually add a little bit of milk every few times. Keep mixing until the sauce has become a pasty texture.  Add some cheese and save a little bit for later, also add some of the ham and put both into the sauce. Check if your macaroni is soft but not too soft but taking out one and bite on it. If your sauce and macaroni are ready to start to get out a microwaveable platter, add the macaroni first and make sure you drain it before you place it into the platter. After adding the macaroni add the sauce, sprinkle your leftover cheese, and ham evenly on top of your dish. While your at it you could start to evenly distribute your tomato on top too. Sprinkle some bread crumbs on top and place into the oven, wait until you think it's done. - We didn't wait until the cheese melted on top but it was fine with us.

Once it's done you can eat and enjoy!

Evaluation.

I really enjoyed the dish, and thought it was nice so I rate it a 10/10.
