Instrumental Industries

In week 5 for our music hurumanu we were assigned to do a project based on musicians and bands, at first we worked as a class to see what bands and musician we all knew. But they all needed to be a New Zealand artist/s, it was a bit tricky for me since I didn't know any except Stan Walker and Lorde. first we did a hard copy which was on paper it was a bit like a form, it mentioned the most popular songs, birth date and basic things like that. We needed to do two which was band and singer for my singer I picked Aaradhna she is Samona/Indian which was born in NZ. She is a female artist and since I am half Indian I can tell that her name is Indian but it is only from my experiences. For my band I picked the exponents I actually had never heard of their name but until I saw what one of there songs was I realized who they wore. The song was "Why Does Love Do This To Me" after we were allowed to listen to music which was enjoyable for me since I really like to listen to music but while we listen to music we needed to a DLO. The DLO was based on the singer I had picked which was Aaradhna -

Today on the 26th of August for our music hurumanu we had learned about the different instrument families. We learned the string, orchestra, percussion, woodwind and brass families the ones that I never knew about were all of them except orchestra and string. It was really interesting to learn about these and we were assigned to create a presentation explaining or defining each family in our own words.
We also did a musician bio graphy they are all on this slide.

HANGI - TE REO MAORI

In Te Reo Maori we have been doing sessions based on Hangi's a Hangi stand for an event where you have a big feast or a family gathering with lots of food shared out with everyone. This kind of hangi is where you cook food underground it takes many hours to do because there is a long procedure. The Maori hangi is very similar to the pacific island hangi's expect they need to do it about ground since they live on islands. They can't do it because of the water being so close to lands surface, in Samoa, they call it Umu and in Hawaii, they call it Luao. The hangi is a link to Matariki because not only Matariki is a star constellation they are also a sign to plant food. In my opinion, if I would have the time I might in the future but now present I don't really feel like it because my family would mostly disapprove for cultural reasons.

Aim: To look at how I can prevent climate change in the future.

3. Write down your 10 changes to climate change below. Using ideas from the Ecological Handprint and Carbon Footprint list 10 changes that you can make to stop Climate change?

1.   I need to start walking more than taking the car all the time.
2.   I think I need to start recycling and composting myself.
3.  When I go grocery shopping next time I should check the labels and know where it comes from. 
4. When we go shopping as the whole family I wan to tell my dad to think about it before him buying stuff.
5. I want to eat vegetables most days then eating meat on most days.
6. I want to try planting and growing vegetables instead of buying them. 
7. I want to talk more about the environment for my parents and relatives.
8. I also want to make sure that I just don't walk by some trash and leave it there I want to make sure I pick it up.
9. Maybe I should take quicker showers so I can conserve more water instead of using so much water because there are 6 people in my family.  
10. Instead of throwing our organic bin into the green bin we can put it in our dirt to make compost that can help our flowers and other plants grow healthier.

1.    They were protesting about climate change.
2.   Some kids are also not wanting to have kids because they don't want their kids to live in a polluted life, or having to pick up other people's trash.
3.  Thinking it's good that social media is also helping.
4. Turning off engines - less use of cars or automobiles.
5. Politicians having to speak up and it is only the youths.

What does this do to our drinking water?

Saltwater invading our drinking water since we get our water supply from the undergrounds which are close to the coastal.

What are the main concerns?

1. Take up less use of fossil fuels like not using public transport or car, things like that. 
2. If your building a house try to build uses less energy so we can use less energy.

Kimchi and the other ingredients are normally found at the local stores in plastic or foil. But the Kimchi soup itself is found at restaurants in bowls or it would be made at home. - In my opinion their no packaging for the Kimchi Soup itself.

Water, Fire

• Would this item have been processed? 

Yes, because kimchi actually needs to be cooked first to be cooked with the stew otherwise it would not have a rich flavor.

• Is there anything unique or significant about the food item (e.g. fair-trade, local)? 

Yes, Because it is loved locally in Korea and also even the rich have it inexpensive restaurants which normally thins kind of food would not really be welcomed to expensive restaurants around the world. It is a delicacy in Korea.

• What else do you notice about this food that affects its climate friendliness? 

It needs gas to boil but apart from that, I think it is climate-friendly.

Because it is a food that had organic items apart from meat but it also needs fire but this in only the portion of the ingredients all the rest are organic.

DRAMA - Performance

On Tuesday the 6th of august we had another one of our drama sessions, in those two periods of drama we needed to come up with a performance.  But this time our performance was like we were really acting, we needed to base the performance on what paper we got. Mrs. Clark laid our small pieces of paper around the room and on each paper, it says different sceneries like a car crash or something. I was in a group with Shiela one of my friends and my other two friends went together, my partner and I were first going to the scenery of a disastrous dinner party. At first, we thought it was a good one but throughout acting, it didn't work out for us, it was just that there was a lot of thing going on and only two of us were in the group. some people performed theirs but after they performed Miss Clark said we cag go into groups of four we decided to just stay the same and I and Shiela were going to pick another play. After minutes of searching, we finally found one it was about, two people arguing we thought it was great, it was about me stealing Shiela's CD's and we added a few lines since it was only short and that made it so much more fun to act. My friends were amazing their act made us feel in suspense it must had terrified Lhysette because Skyler had to yell at her and her eyes were terrifying when you look into them. While acting in ours we had some giggles and some parts we couldn't be serious but till the end we were. I and Shiela were yelling at each other like I would to my sister I got really nervous at the end and quickly left the stage, in the play, I was the person who lied and in reality that is my sister's part that she always does.

Today for drama which is the 9th of August needed to do a warmup and also a breathing exercise the breathing exercise was called box breathing. It is where you breathe in and hold for 4 seconds and do it over and over again. We also did a drawing on what our emotions were today I am terrible at drawing but it was really fun!

CIP - COMMUNITY IMPACT PROJECTS

Good Morning everyone!

Today for CIP we had a choice for what we want to do. The first choice was compost, In compost, you would have to grab all the rubbish from the compost heap since there is a lot of rubbish under the compost. So we had to make sure all that was gone since the rubbish wasn't going to go by itself if we tell it, we need the compost for the soil that we were going to use for our vegetable plants. the second choice was jam not to make but to make a poster about, we had to create a poster about the jam since we are selling it. The jam was going to be sold to staff and students it was going to be sold for 3 dollars which was a cheap price since it was nearly the same price ad jam at the supermarkets. In the posters, you had to mention what price they are you to also persuade so more people can buy it all the money will be going to the tools and soil we need. The last option was gardening that was the choice I had chosen, in gardening we had to go to the community garden and pick out the weeds we were told to pick out. Our hands got really dirty with dirt so afterward, we washed our hands of course, the day was really fun I was not there for the second period because I had other passions for the day apart from that the period was really fun.
