Wananga - Reflection Section

Hi Everyone!

Text Title: Your Name (anime movie)

Text Type: Movie

Text Creator: Makoto Shinkai

Text Purpose: How does the text depict age, gender, cultural groups?

Date: June 6, Friday, 2021

I find this movie a very detailed and beautiful movie, the animation is very smooth. Not only that but the art is immaculate. The storyline is also very emotional, normally these types of movies are in the young adult years. But this movie focused on their love and relation in their teenage years. Though they did briefly show segments of them when they were adults towards the end. The character development was simple but it was very meaningful, you could easily compare them. They would show obvious signs of differences, that is what always makes the love more relatable. A countryside girl and a city boy, speaking of this girl she was very cultural. As she has moved in with her traditional grandmother at a young age due to family issues. They did sacred Japanese dances and events, one thing eye-catching and notable was how she made Sake. Sake is valued in Japan, it is alcohol also known as liquor. In japan f we were to translate their term. It would be called rice wine, this wine was traditionally drunken and made at ceremonies. The way they did this was by chewing on rice till it became a liquid, so it was fermented. Whereas normal wine Is brewed with sugars.

Text Title: The Outsiders

Text Type: Book

Text Creator: S. E. Hinton

Text Purpose: Who would be most likely to read this text and why?

Date: Friday, May 28

I would recommend this book to teenagers who take an interest in action and 90's language. I think the book is very suspenseful but it is also pretty violent and involves crime which is where the suspense comes from. Because we see one of the most "puppy" type of characters kill someone. Before that he wasn't innocent either because he had always got jumped and experience bad things. So I definitely recommend this for teenagers up.

Wananga - Reflection Section

 Hi everyone!

As usual, I will be doing my weekly Friday reflection section in my Wananga class. For today I will be writing about my book that I am currently reading, it is written by my favorite author so far.

Title:

I Was Born for This

Author:

Alice Oseman

Text Purpose:

What the book is about (so far)

Explanation:

So far from what I have read in the book, it is about a girl who is a big fan of this band named ¨The Ark¨. She really doesn´t have any friends in real life but she had major Ark nerds as her friends from online. They all met up for going to a concert of course for Ark. I almost forgot the protagonist of the book is named Angel, at least that's the meaning of her name. She just likes to go by that name because it sounds a lot nicer. The book alternates between Angels POV and Jimmy´s POV Jimmy is one of the members of the band. In my opinion, I think ironically they will meet each other.

I really enjoy badminton it is a sport that became my first passion although I'm not good it gives me a reason to get better. It is my goal to get better and I am determined to achieve that goal.

Reflection Wananga - Wananga

Hello Everyone!

As usual, every Friday I will be writing about my reflection on anything I want. For today I will be basing my reflection on a book. My favorite book, the best book I have read. It may not be interesting to you, but I love the story, the plot, and just everything about it.

Text title: Solitaire

Text type: Book

Text creator: Alice Oseman

Text purpose: The meaning of the plot

The story behind ´solitaire´ is about a teenage girl and her relationships even partly about her life as I should say. In my opinion, they are mainly basing things on relationships. This can also connect to Hauora, talking about how much I love this book. I love the story, and you can really relate to it as it's about a teenage girl's life. The name solitaire comes from the main problem in the book.

Reflection Section - Wananga

Hello Everyone!

Today is another day for my weekly reflection blog post in wananga, this time I have decided to reflect on a movie I watched on my Health subject.

Yes I know I usually reflect on the anime I have watched. But I thought why not reflect on something involving learning and school.

Text title: What was the movie "The half of it" trying to tell us?

Text type: Movie

Text creator: Alice Wu

Text purpose: Proclaiming the motives of the director or creator by discovering the message of which they are trying to portray.

The movie 'The half of it' is about a girl named Ellie mainly I guess I should say, she is the main character. She earns money by doing everyone else's homework, possibly around $20 or more. But one day a boy her age asked her something that she has never done, and is probably the only thing she isn't smart with. A boy named Paul asked her to help him write a letter for the popular girl. Named Aster, the twist to it is that Ellie also likes Aster but won't admit it. Ellie writes the letters for Paul in poetic ways. Aster receives them thinking it's from Paul which as you know is actually from Ellie. Over-time Ellie's feelings become deeper for Aster. In the end, Paul ends up liking Ellie. Because he realized that he is happier and comfortable with Ellie. Ellie kisses Aster, and Ellie finally actually gets to do what she wants. So she goes to her dream college.

Reflection Section - Wananga

Today for my wananga class we are once again doing our weekly reflection blog post. Today I will be reflecting on an anime I have watched in the past, which is called 'Demon Slayer'. I have considered this anime the best one I've watched so far.

Text Title: The story behind 'Demon Slayer'.

Text Type: Anime

Text Creator: Koyoharu Gotouge

Text Purpose: Proclaiming the motives of the protagonist.

The story of 'Demon Slayer' is about a young boy who lives in a world in the danger of demons at night. That's why there are such things called demon slayers; usually, humans fight demons. This young boy is named 'Tanjiro' his family was slaughtered by a demon. He found himself devastated seeing the state of his family, blood everywhere, even the baby. The only one left was his younger sister the second oldest. But unfortunately, his sister was turned into a demon, his only life goal is to slay the demon who did this to his family and his sister. So he became a demon slayer, he made a lot of friends along his journey. As it was a cliffhanger series, we are still waiting to see whether he does it or not.

Reflection Section - Wananga

Today for my Wananga class, we need to summarise anything we want. Whether it be an article, a trailer, a video. We can summarise anything just so we can practice how to summarise in general.

Text Title: The story behind 'My Hero Academy'.

Text Type: Anime

Text Creator: Kohei Horikoshi

Text Purpose: To inform us about the story behind the protagonist in the anime.

My Hero Academy is an anime involving supernatural powers called quirks. These quirks developed with humans over time, since years have passed. Those 'quirks' had become normal in society. Around 80% of their world have quirks, and 20% don't, ironically the protagonist was among the 20%. Overall the summary about the anime is that Deku the protagonist has an all-mighty dream to become like his idol. His idol is the one who passed on his powers to him, which was unbelievable for him. Because of his big goals and striving to achieve he became the number 1 hero.

Wananga - My School Holiday Summary

Hello friends!

In this blog post, I will be summarising my holiday that may give you an idea of my personality or what I like/dislike.

At the beginning of my 2020 holiday
, it was my birthday which I had celebrated on the 13th of December but my birthday is on the 16th. I had all my friends over and a few family members, there were games and food. The decoration was really nice and my family, definitely put a lot of their effort into it. The food was amazing, the games were entertaining, we had lots of laughs and I just generally thought it was a great party.

But for my 'real' birthday we went on a road trip around the south island. We had gone to Marahau and also went on the Abel Tasman Coast Track. On the first day, we only went on a 30-minute walk. To the Tinline Bay and took photos with the single tree on the rock, on the way back. We ended up catching the small crabs, and I ended up slipping in the small stream, luckily it was a hot day. So the water didn't really bother me, I had lot's of fun, but the next day could've been considered hell.

The next day we had gone on the Abel Tasman Coast Track again but this time we were planning to go to the Cleopatra Pools. The walk was so long, tiring, exhausting, on top of that the weather was not complementary to the activity. It was boiling hot, since the whole family came along we had to alternate with carrying the baby. I was the one who ended up holding her the most, alternating with her on a sling, my shoulders, and carrying her on my hip.

We had to walk to Anchorage first and that took about 4 hours which was about 12.4 km. We ended up giving up on going to the Cleopatra Pools. Because our legs had died on us we were so tired, and our problem had come up. We had no idea how to get back, we were so exhausted we just couldn't walk back, we ended up just laying on the grass we even took a nap, we had nothing better to do. So why not swim in the ocean and that what we did, it was so hot so why not, but we couldn't stay there forever. Although there was a hut, we couldn't find any of the staff which was frustrating. If I could say so myself we were extremely lucky like so lucky, we asked one of the water taxi drivers if we could possibly fit in. Usually, you had to book a spot but the lady was kind enough o offer us a spot. Just on the last boat, that's I'm saying we were extremely lucky, and I was so happy that we didn't need to walk back.

In my family, we frequently go on hikes and we definitely enjoy it a lot so we are usually used to the exhaustion. I think the longest hike we've been was at Mt. Somner which was about 12 hours back and forth. I think that was my favorite, the water was apparently clean enough to drink, it was so beautiful.

After those special events, I just did what you would have usually done in the holidays. I slept, ate, and hung out with friends. I had spent $50 with friends in just a few hours. I mean what can I say I've even spent $300 on just clothes in one day. I guess you could say I save up to spend, I don't know how but that's what I do.

That was the rest of my holidays nothing else special happened, but I definitely found my holiday enjoyable and entertaining.
