In Te Reo Maori we have been doing sessions based on Hangi's a Hangi stand for an event where you have a big feast or a family gathering with lots of food shared out with everyone. This kind of hangi is where you cook food underground it takes many hours to do because there is a long procedure. The Maori hangi is very similar to the pacific island hangi's expect they need to do it about ground since they live on islands. They can't do it because of the water being so close to lands surface, in Samoa, they call it Umu and in Hawaii, they call it Luao. The hangi is a link to Matariki because not only Matariki is a star constellation they are also a sign to plant food. In my opinion, if I would have the time I might in the future but now present I don't really feel like it because my family would mostly disapprove for cultural reasons.
