Alchemy!

Today for science we did alchemy with alchemy our aim was to try turning a copper coin gold. for it to turn gold we had to boil 50 ml of zinc nitrate after that we add zinc metal strips to it. Then we let it boil for 10 minutes. I was put into a group with Teyha and Blake, at first, the color of your coin was turning into a rainbowish paua shell color. One of the groups had found a cool thing about their coin it was burnt so they tried to rub it and it ended being a shiny metallic color. For us we after the rainbow color it turned into a silverish color. It was a pretty fun experiment it didn't actually matter if we got it wrong or right because every other coin would change to different colors. In the process, we took a few photos and here they are.

       We turned on the orange flame and it burned our beaker

     and here is the final result it is a little shady but it turned out like a silvery color.

After the experiment, I thought that it was really fun and how I learned a lot more new things maybe I should have held it over the flame longer overall it turned out right.
