Purple Cabbage Experiment
Method:
1 Peel off three or four big cabbage leaves and put them in a blender filled half full with water. Blend the mixture on high until you have purple cabbage juice.
2 Pour the purplish cabbage liquid through a strainer to filter out all of the big chunks of cabbage. Save the liquid for the experiments to follow.
3 Set out three beakers, side by side. Fill each glass three-quarters full with cabbage juice.
4 Add a little vinegar to the first beaker of cabbage juice. Stir with stirring rod and watch the colour change.
5 In the second beaker, add a little laundry detergent and stir.
6 Take a photo of your 3 beakers side by side.
That was our instructions and also like a quiz for the only twist was is that we had to experiment to get the right answer. I have a few photos from throughout our experiment. It was a success and my answers were right, I was in a group with my friends Megan and Skyler. and I was the one that ended up cleaning the mess.
After watching someone else do their experiment we ended up waiting a long time because they kept needing to blend it because they just shoved their red cabbage in the bottle. So I thought it would be a good idea if we broke up the cabbage first the idea was ok we ended blending the things faster but we needed to keep adding water. It had to be really fine and smooth we finally got to that point and experimented we set out 3 beakers and filled them up a quarter way up. one glass we added a little bit of vinegar and it turned a pinkish redish colour and another glass we added washing powder then it turned a greenish blueish colour. then we compared them all to each other.
